Robert Braun

Robert Braun is Senior Researcher at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna and Associate Professor at Masaryk University in Brno. He studied philosophy of arts and history at the University of Budapest and history at Rutgers University, he did his PhD in Philosophy and his habilitation in Sociology. His research focuses on the political ontology of automobility, Anthropocene violence, and political challenges of research and innovation. He has published many papers in prestigious journals such as Science Magazine, History and Theory, Mobilities, Applied Mobilities, Transfers and the Journal of Responsible Innovation. His last book: Post-Automobility Futures (with Richard Randell) was published in 2022 by Rowman and Littlefield. He also writes for newspapers, like Der Standard in Vienna, and non-academic journals such as Research Europe, published in Brussels, informing decision-makers and non-professionals about the state of the art of his research.

Johannes Starkbaum

Johannes Starkbaum is a sociologist and political scientist and received his PhD from the University of Vienna in 2019. He is part of the Science, Technology and Societal Transformation research group at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) since 2018 and has been researching the interaction of science and society in the fields of medicine, mobility, and science policy for over 10 years. Besides his current research in the RAVE project, Johannes is leading a study on science- and democracy skepticism on behalf of the Austrian Ministry for Education and another project reflecting on science communication with vocational students on behalf of the City of Vienna. Anna Gerhardus

Anna Gerhardus a researcher of the research group Science, Technology and Social Transformation at the Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna (IHS) since 2019. As part of the transdisciplinary research projects RiConfigure and Virtual Skills Lab, she conducted research on participatory and non-linear innovation processes (Quadruple Helix Innovation), mobility and society, virtual reality training and Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI). She finished her master’s in communication studies at the University of Vienna with a focus on media policy and media industries, as well as the topics feminist media studies and human rights.

Carina Liersch

Carina Liersch currently is a student of the Master's program of Science-Technology-Society studies at the University of Vienna. After studying a mix of political and administrative science as well as law in various European countries, Carina gained experiences in different working fields such as the German parliament, a thinktank, or NGOs. Their interest centres around the discontinuation of fossil technologies and how they are being contested - for example by social movements - ranging from conflicts about lignite coal in Germany to the mobility transition in Austria.
